What We'll Cover, Week by Week
Week One
Overview of Special Education and Its History
Before you can navigate the system, you need to understand how it was built and why it works the way it does. This foundation sets you up for everything that follows.
Week Two
The Tiered Education System and Understanding the Language
Special education has its own vocabulary, and knowing it changes everything. You'll learn to speak the system's language so you can work within it and, when necessary, challenge it.
Week Three
Why the System Feels So Hard and Your Role as a Parent
You're not imagining it. This week we unpack why the process feels overwhelming and, more importantly, how to step into your power as your child's most important advocate.
Week Four
Two-Track Planning and Special Education Law
You'll build your IEP and 504 playbook here, learning how to plan both short and long term while understanding the legal rights that protect your child. You'll know what schools are required to provide and how to push back professionally and effectively when something isn't right.
Week Five
Planning for the School Year and Taking Care of Yourself
You'll leave with a concrete plan for the year ahead, and a reminder that advocating for your child starts with taking care of yourself too.
